Exploring the Post-
What are all the Post-, Post-modern, postcolonial, post feminist, in the geographic studies ?
The presentations in France focus on the theorical aspects of the post modernity rather than what these studies can give to geography. The debates look like very aggressive and confuse. It could be explain by the particular place of the French culture, at the beginning of the modernity with Rousseau, Voltaire and its critics with Foucault, Lefebvre, Derida.
But what is postmodernity? a ideology, a new way of working, the actual world?
The goal of my exploring of the Post- studies is not to judge, or explain all this field, but looking for the interesting points and what we be learn from thess researchs.
We will see the Soja works and thinking on the Postmodernity, through his book “Thirdspace, Journey to Los Angeles and other real-imagined places”
Than we will see perhaps one of the first post, the postindustrial society pressented by S.Sassenin his book the global city.
